Treeside Retreat — new build electrical fit-out

Treeside Retreat is a new-build residence in Margaret River, designed as a private home with a second dwelling to the rear. Unified Solutions South West delivered the electrical, lighting and communications package through fit-off and handover, with the lighting scheme treated as part of the architecture rather than a standard residential install.

The brief was a custom architectural lighting result: layered interior light, considered external lighting, and communications that would let the property operate as both a family home and a guest stay. Off-the-shelf fittings were not going to suit the interior, so the lighting design had to be resolved on site with the build.

The install covered power and lighting throughout the house, garden and facade lighting, LED lighting and downlights to the living areas, and purpose-built fittings where a catalogue product would not do. Feature wall lights were fabricated in-house from timber and fitted with integrated light. LED strip was built around the bathroom mirrors. Wi-Fi and CCTV were installed with remote access, and a separate secure network was provided for guest use in the rear dwelling.

The most demanding work was the feature lighting. No proprietary wall fitting met the client’s brief, so the fittings were designed and made for the house, then installed as finished joinery rather than as an add-on. That same custom approach was used at the mirrors, where the light had to finish cleanly against the bathroom joinery.
